Pets on school property

dogTo our families,

We appreciate that many families enjoy walking their dogs to school each day as part of their family routine. The Guide to the School year outlines expectations as follows:

•All dogs must be on a leash and kept outside the school.
•Consider leaving your pets at home. Larger animals sometimes intimidate smaller children.
• Fenced in kindergarten play areas are off limits to pets.
• Excrement must be removed by pet owners. Please help keep our property clean and healthy.

As we are unique as a K-3 school, we do have many children who are fearful of animals. We also have students, staff and community members who are allergic to animals or also fearful. Unfortunately, we have also had soiling of our yard and FDK play area due to pets. Given possible allergies and safety concerns (ex. biting) it is ideal for families to keep animals on the pathways leading to the school versus coming on to school property.

We appreciate the community’s support with this matter for the health and safety of everyone.

Sincerely,

Greg Collins

Principal
