To our community,
Thanks so much for everyone’s hard work on our first day. It was wonderful to meet so many of you throughout the day. Hopefully, your child has shared some reflections from his or her first day at school. We look forward to building our partnerships with your family. Your child’s teachers and educators can help address questions or concerns that may arise during this transitional period. We welcome our Junior Kindergarten students to their first full day of school today – they did great!
I thought I would share a few updates for you from Day One
–Meet the Staff evening – We have revised the date for our Meet the Staff event to Wednesday October 5, 2016. Our local Lions’ Club will hold their annual BBQ starting at 5 p.m. Classrooms and the school will be open for families to visit from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
– Busing. Thank you for everyone’s patience. Student Transportation Services has worked hard to develop the routes, pick up and drop off times. We recommend you allow for a few minutes before and after scheduled pick up times as drivers become accustomed to the routes and subsequent adjustments. Even if a bus is running late, know that they will come to the stop regardless of how delayed they are. We thank everyone for letting us know and we have forwarded questions to STS. Please expect some adjustments over the next week or two as the bus drivers gain a clearer understanding of the routes and specific stops. If your child won’t consistently take the school bus (ex. attends childcare a few days a week) it is very important we have that information on file. Please capture any unique circumstances for us in a letter. I thank Mrs. White who has been in contact with many of our families already and has helped to capture this information.
– Forms. Yesterday, your child received a number of important pieces of information. Please read all the information and ensure you understand the contents of all documents. Where indicated, please ensure you sign and return the signed copy to our school as soon as possible.
Additionally, we will send home an emergency contact information sheet that needs to be updated for this school year. While this is a lot of information and a lot of forms to manage in the first week, they are all important for you and your family to understand.
