The first four months of school have now come to a conclusion. We now wish everyone the very best for the upcoming break. We know many of you will gather as families and friends over the coming days and week. We also recognise that at this time of the year many people across the world celebrate significant faith days.
Merry Christmas to those celebrating Christmas on December 25th or January 7th for Orthodox Churches.
Best wishes to families celebrating Chanukah from December 16-24, 2014.
Happy Kwanzaa to those families celebrating the observance on December 26th.
To all of our staff, students and families we wish everyone a happy and prosperous 2015.
It has been an wonderful start to the school year thanks to the hard work of our students, staff and our community members. Again, we have much to celebrate as a school community in our work together. I want to extend my appreciation to our staff at this time. At our P.A Day in September, I spoke to our team about our core work which is the classroom programs we create during the instructional day. Each staff member has helped to develop these programs and helped to create learning environments to support each of our learners. I have been impressed how each staff member has embraced the new learning that comes with opening a new building and with creating a new school team. There has also been much reflection by staff who are in new classrooms, new roles, new teams, new grades and a new school. Staff have embraced learning themselves which takes effort and trust that I appreciate.
I also want to acknowledge the time and energy given by our staff outside of the instructional day. In August I shared how it takes a village to raise a child and about how some of that work occurs “behind the scenes“. From their work in August, to lunch hour meetings, to after school efforts, committees, school clubs and events each of our staff have also contributed to helping create a dynamic school. I have seen first hand, and on a daily basis, the tremendous energy it has taken to create what is now our school. I am grateful to each of them for their time and efforts and know that the break ahead is very well earned. I have the best job in the world because each day I get to witness magic happen.
We look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday January 5, 2015 as we start our next chapter in our journey this school year. We will continue to build our collaborative culture of our school together. We will continue to dialogue as to how we want that work to occur. We will continue to create spaces at our school for dialogue to occur around our collective work and invite participation. As always, we welcome your participation. In January, we welcome you to join our next Good News Assembly on Tuesday January 27th at 10:20 a.m. as well as our next School Council meeting on January 15, 2015 at 7 p.m. We also look forward to our official school opening scheduled for April 29, 2015.
We have achieved much and there is much more to come on our journey.
Here’s to a great 2015 year ahead.
