Congratulations to everyone on completing our first week together. There were so many highlights for myself, but I would like to share a few:
– Our staff….Incredible. Our staff spent hours of their own time in August preparing classrooms and learning spaces. As a result, our school was in great shape for our opening this past Tuesday. At our June staff meeting one of the ideas I asked them to reflect on was the notion that in our work, “everything counts”. Every small effort matters. This week was the culmination of a lot of efforts, big and small. They all counted in our opening.
– Our students. Amazing. I have now had the opportunity to visit each classroom and to meet with all the grade one, two and three students. Next week, I will meet with all the Kindergartners. The meetings allowed us the chance to welcome them and to review expectations for our school. They came this week with enthusiasm, wonder, excitement and ideas. Our grade three students in particular really impressed me with their ideas and keenness, around how they could be leaders in our building….yes!
– Our community. Outstanding. The feedback to me personally has been warm, positive and encouraging. We thank you for your support of our work through the busy pace of what the opening week always brings in any school. Our caregivers have been so supportive of our efforts and of our school. As I shared last week, it takes a village to raise a child. What a supportive community we have.
One week completed.
Where will we be one month from now?
I can’t wait to see.
This weekend, be sure to ask your child how they felt their beginning of the year went.
We look forward to hearing their feedback.
Here’s to us, and here’s to beginnings.
