Over the next week, please watch for some initial information related to our school opening. I hope it will help you and your family answer some questions you may have.
A logical place to start is what our school day will look like. Here is an overall schedule for our school day.

|Entry Bell – Students line up at their entry door||8:03 a.m.|
|100 minute instructional block||8:10-9:50|
|100 minute instructional block||10:20-12:00|

|100 minute instructional block||1:00-2:40|
|School Office hours:||7:45 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.|
We have developed our school day procedures based on our Board’s Safe Welcome Program procedure. For the safety of our students, all visitors to our building are reminded of the following:
Visitors, including parents/guardians, volunteers and community members shall:
• adhere to the Safe Welcome Program;
• understand and reinforce the importance of school safety and the protocol for entering the school;
• not prop open or unlock external doors as an entry or re-entry method for any reason, unless assigned by the principal;
• enter the school through the main entrance in accordance with the school-level protocol; and
• report to the main office after being granted access to the school.
Before School –
For the first day of school, staff who will work with Kindergarten aged children will meet families in the Kindergarten yard area.
Staff who teach grades 1-3 will be at the back of the school to meet families and pick up students.
If it is raining, we will meet in our gym.
From September 3, 2014 onwards – Students can begin lining up at their entry door at 8:03 a.m. Therefore, we recommend dropping off your child starting at 7:55. Here is a map of our school grounds outlining the entry door locations for students:
As per our board’s procedure, we ask parents and guardians to say goodbye to their children outside at their entry doors. For Kindergarten students, we ask parents to walk their child to the gates where staff will meet them for entry to the school. During the instructional day, we ask all parents and guardians to use our front door and sign in at our school office.
Our recesses will consist of a snack period and time outside. Due to the large number of kindergarten students we have scheduled the 6 classes to split their times inside and outside to ensure we do not have overcrowding. Three classes will have snack first and three will go outside and then we we switch half way through recess.
Please indicate if your child is staying for lunch or going home for lunch on the Book of Forms sheet that will be sent home during the first week of school.
If you are picking your child up for lunch, we ask that you sign in at our school office at noon.
Children staying at our school for lunch will have time to eat and then time outside. We will follow a similar schedule for our Kindergarten classes as we do at recess.
Students will be dismissed at 2:40 p.m. It is very helpful for us if you can provide a note for the first day indicating how your child is getting home at the end of the day (i.e Before and After Care program, picked up by an adult or older sibling, or taking the school bus).
Children attending our Before and After Care program will proceed directly to their designated classrooms at 2:40 p.m.
Children taking the school bus will proceed to their buses at 2:40 p.m. where staff will supervise the boarding of the buses. Kindergarten children will be escorted to the bus by our Designated Early Childhood Educators.
For all other students, they will be dismissed to their caregiver at 2:40 through their exit doors.
We thank everyone for their support with our opening in just over a week’s time!
